Beaudry's genealogy

note to the editor:Dear Mr. L..;
I wonder if you would be so kind to add this somewhere in the works on
my genealogy. I certainly would not want to instill in anyone, the
misconception that I compiled all this work. This material was presented
to me by, Gail Morin whose husband was originally from Eastern Montana.
It was presented to me as a personal favor. She is the author of several
books on the subject of the Metis's genealogy which are available
through.

He was baptised on 13 April 1893 at St.Ignace, Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada, Gf: Napoleon Lafournais; Gm: Therese McGillis; St.Germain o.m.i(ibid.). He married Rosine Malaterre, daughter of Charles Malaterre and Isabelle Rocheblanc, circa 1913 at Glasgow, Valley, Montana(Charles D. Denney Papers, Glenbow Archives, Calgary, Alberta.). He died in 1965 at Glasgow, Valley, Montana(ibid.).
2. Noel2 Beaudry was born on 25 April 1867 at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada(ibid.). He married Marie Philomene McGillis (see #3), daughter of Angus McGillis and Isabelle Fagnant, on 27 April 1892 at St.Ignace, Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). He died in 1923 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.).

He had a scrip application: on 4 June 1885 at St.Albert, North West Territories, Canada,: Noel Beaudry; #442; HB child; Address: St.Albert P.O.; Born: 1865, St.Albert; Father: Baptiste Beaudry (HB); Mother: Nancy Leveille (HB). I lived the whole of my life with my parents at St.Albert N.W. Terr. Occupation: laborer. I am not married and never was. Personal property: one horse. I prefer to take scrip for $240.00. Approved. I lived at St.Albert on 15 March last. Children of Noel2 Beaudry and Marie Philomene McGillis (see #3) were as follows:

1   i. Daniel1 Beaudry.

ii. Victor Beaudry was born on 5 September 1894 at Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada(Charles Denney.). He married Florence Desjarlais circa 1916 at Wolf Point, Roosevelt, Montana(ibid.).

iii. Philomene Beaudry was born on 29 March 1896 at Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). She was baptised on 31 March 1896. She married John B. Therrien circa 1914 at Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). She died in 1978(ibid.).

iv. Josephine Beaudry was born on 10 May 1898 at Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). She married J. Patrick Webster in 1916 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.).

v. Alfred Beaudry was born on 12 September 1901 at Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). He was baptised on 19 September 1901. He married Virginie Delorme on 24 December 1926 at St.Ignace, Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada. (My uncle Alfred and his family always lived near us when we were small children. His two sons, Louis and Sanford spent about as much time with us as they did at their own home, which was only a short distance away. Before the second world war it was still the custom to gather the Indian or part Indian children and send them off to government trade schools that were situated throughout the U. S. . Sanford and Louis along with many of the other children from our area were sent to Chemawa, Oregon which is near Salem, in 1939 or 1940. They both enlisted in the Marine Corps in the very early part of the war. Louis was killed at Guam in 1944 after haveing been in the South Pacific for two years he was not quite twenty years old. He was in the Marine Raiders. Sanford was awarded the Silver Star Medal at Okinawa and was wounded quite badly there. He was never to return to Glasgow until after the war he seemed to suffer from sort of a guilt complex,. I have read of this, where men feel guilty because they saw so many of their freinds killed and they were not. He died a young man on the streets in San Francisco, California. Their mother was liveing in Yakima, Washington at the end of the war and that is where they are buried. in the veterns section of Calvary Cemetary.

vi. Joseph Angus Beaudry was born on 5 September 1902 at St.Peter, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). He was baptised on 13 September 1902. He married Dorothy Morin, daughter of Francois 'Frank' Morin and Justine Martin, on 15 July 1929 at Assiniboia(ibid.). He died on 30 September 1953 at Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada, at age 51(ibid.).

vii. Marie Virginie Beaudry was born on 29 May 1904 at St.Victor, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). She was baptised on 26 June 1904. She married George Thompson circa 1926 at Poplar, Roosevelt, Montana(ibid.). She died in 1953(ibid.).

viii. Adeline Beaudry was born circa 1912 at Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan, Canada(ibid.). She married Ross McLeod in 1946 at San Francisco, California(ibid.).

ix. Agnes Beaudry was born on 21 May 1913 at Montana(ibid.). She married Marshall Smith in 1942 at Missoula, Missoula, Montana(ibid.).

x. Antoine Beaudry was born on 3 April 1917(ibid.).

3. Marie Philomene2 McGillis was born on 2 April 1872 at Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan, Canada(HBS 1886-1901, 1906 Half-Breed Scrip Applications, RG15-21, Volume 1335; C-14947.) (Lebret Mission de St.Florent Roman Catholic Registre des Baptemes, Mariages & Sepltures, Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, Book One: 1868-1881, FHC microfilm 1032949, page 65, B-68.). She was baptised on 4 April 1872 at Lebret, Saskatchewan, Canada, Gm: Marguerite Fagnan; J. J. M. Lestane ptre(ibid.). She married Noel Beaudry (see #2), son of Jean Baptiste Beaudry and Nancy Leveille, on 27 April 1892 at St.Ignace, Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada(Charles Denney.). She died on 7 April 1946 at age 74(ibid.).

She had a scrip application: on 6 July 1900 at Swift Current, North West Territories, Canada,: BEAUDRY, Marie Philomene nee MCGILLIS; #961; of Swift Current; b. Wood Mountain, 28 years ago; d/o Angus MCGILLIS (HB) & Isabelle FAGNANT (HB). Marie Philomene BEAUDRY (x); Swift Current, NWT; 6 Jul 1900. Declaration: Isabelle MCGILLIS, for Marie Philomene BEAUDRY nee MCGILLIS; of Willow Bunch; b. Wood Mountain 28 years ago 2nd April last; d/o Angus MCGILLIS (HB) & I am mother (HB). I and my husband received scrip in Manitoba. Isabelle MCGILLIS; Willow Bunch, NWT; 24 May 1900. Allowed. C-14947(HBS, Volume 1335; C-14947.).

 

4. Jean Baptiste3 Beaudry was born in 1844 at Lac Ste.Anne, NWT, Canada. He was baptised on 23 March 1845 bt. age 3 months. He married Nancy Leveille (see #5), daughter of Pierre Leveille and Julie McKenzie, on 14 April 1863. He died in September 1870 at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada. He was buried on 24 September 1870 at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada.

He had a scrip application: on 5 June 1885 at St.Albert, North West Territories, Canada,: Noel Beaudry; For: Jean Baptiste Beaudry, his father, now deceased; #458; HB Head; Address: St.Albert P.O.; Born: 1840, Lake St.Anne, N.W. Terr.; Father: Joseph Beaudry (HB); Mother: LaLouise Ladouceur (HB). He lived in the N.W. Terr. the whole of his life specially at St.Albert, where he died in September 1870, Intestate, leaving as Heirs at Law myself, the present deponent, and my sister Francoise Beadury, who died, Intestate in January 1881, aged 12 years. Married: Nancy Leveille, my mother, who died in the year 1868; Children: 2 surviving him: myself & my sister Francoise Beaudry who died as said before in January 1881. Personal Property: He had horses & other properties that I don't know the value at his death. I lived in St.Albert ever since the 15 March last. Noel Beaudry; 5 Jun 1885; French; William Rowland; Colin Fraser; $160 approved. St.Albert Extraction: 24 Sep 1870, bu. Jean Baptiste Beaudry, age 30 years. C-14936(NWHBS, C-14936.).

Children of Jean Baptiste3 Beaudry and Nancy Leveille (see #5) all born at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada, were as follows:

i. Nancy2 Beaudry was born on 28 May 1864(HBS, Volume 1335; C-14947.). She died circa 1868(ibid.).

She had a scrip application: on 11 October 1901 at Moose Jaw, North West Territories, Canada,: BEAUDRY, Noel; for Nancy BEAUDRY, his deceased sister; #1234; of Montana; b. St.Albert, 5 years before me; d. when 6 years old. I never remember seeing her. Noel BEAUDRY (x); Moose Jaw, NWT; 11 Oct 1901. Disallowed, died before 1870. C-14947(ibid.).

ii. Therese Marie Beaudry was born on 12 October 1865(ibid.). She died on 22 March 1866 at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada(ibid.).

She had a scrip application: on 11 October 1901 at St.Albert, North West Territories, Canada,: BEAUDRY, Noel; for Marguerite BEAUDRY, his deceased sister; #1234; of Montana; b. St.Albert, 2 years before me; d. when 5 years old. Noel BEAUDRY (x); Moose Jaw, NWT; 11 Oct 1901. Disallowed, died before 1870. C-14947(ibid.).

iv. Francoise Beaudry was born in 1868. She died on 6 January 1881 at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada. She was buried on 6 January 1881 at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada.

5. Nancy3 Leveille was born on 4 March 1844 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. She was baptised on 5 March 1844 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. She married Jean Baptiste Beaudry (see #4), son of Joseph Nabestiwayan Beaudry and Louise Ladouceur, on 14 April 1863. She was buried in April 1869 at St.Albert, Alberta, Canada(Charles Denney.). She died in April 1869 at age 25(ibid.).

She had a scrip application: on 11 October 1901 at Moose Jaw, North West Territories, Canada,: BEAUDRY, Noel; for Nancy BEAUDRY nee LEVEILLE, his deceased mother; #1217; of Montana, since last fall. I was sheep shearing last year at different points in the North West. I have been married nine years, was married at Willow Bunch, lived at St.Albert and other parts before this. b. St.Francois Xavier, I do not know. I cannot tell how old I was when my mother. I have a dream of seeing my mother. I am 32 or 33 years of age. I remember getting scrip myself Edmonton. I then got scrip on account of my deceased father. I have only a dream of seeing my father. I also got scrip for my deceased sister Francoise. She was 2 or 3 years younger than me. I remember her. She died when she was 8 or 9 years of age. I heard that my mother lived a year or more after the birth of Francoise. Noel BEAUDRY (x); Moose Jaw, NWT; 11 Oct 1901. Letter stating that his sisters Nancy and Marguerite born and died at St.Albert & his mother Nancy BEAUDRY nee LEVEILLE died before 15 July 1870. Disallowed, died before transfer. 6. Angus3 McGillis was born on 24 November 1837 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. He was baptised on 24 November 1837 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. He married Isabelle Fagnant (see #7), daughter of Jean Baptiste Fagnant and Josephte dit Bellehumeur Monet, on 7 September 1858 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. He died in 1894.

Children of Angus3 McGillis and Isabelle Fagnant (see #7) were as follows:

i. Anonyme2 McGillis was born circa January 1860. He/she died on 24 January 1860 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. He/she was buried on 24 January 1860 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada.

ii. Marie Therese McGillis was born on 29 December 1860 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. She was baptised on 29 December 1860. She married Napoleon Lafournaise, son of Joseph Lafournaise and Marie Madeleine Poitras, in 1881 at St.Boniface, Manitoba, Canada

( This couple were the parents of Louise (La fournise) Schiender the nuse grom the First World War)

iii. Rose Anatalie McGillis was born on 30 January 1862 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada. She was baptised on 1 February 1862. She died on 15 January 1863 at on the prairie, Manitoba, Canada. She was buried on 18 January 1863 at St.Francois Xavier, Manitoba, Canada.

iv. Angus Alexandre McGillis was born circa November 1863. He was baptised on 23 November 1863.

( This was "Cathou", he lived to be 105 years of age and claimed never to have seen a "white doctor". MDB)
